This trail follows a ridge line to the Green Knob Lookout Tower at 5,090 feet. The trail is very steep and gets rocky so some minor scrambling is required. The trail provides amazing views of this beautiful mountainous region. After 2.8 miles the trail reaches the Green Knob Lookout Tower on the right side. From the tower the trail descends for 0.5 mile with switchbacks to the Blue Ridge Parkway.<br />
The trail follows a white blaze.
Parking area is located just outside the Black Mountain Campground. <br /><br /><br /><br />On the Parkway the Trailhead is located between mile marker 360 and Green Knob overlook.
